Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige Talks Building The Marvel Cinematic Universe With Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Sunday 30 March 2014 @ 12:53 am

Without giving away too many details about the film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has an absolutely massive effect on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie’s third act leaves things in an absolutely fascinating place that will have fans spending months theorizing about and imagining what will happen in The Avengers: Age of Ultron and beyond. Of course, balancing these kinds of big picture ideas while also telling thoughtful and important singular stories is something that Marvel Studios has had a great deal of experience with now, and it was this challenge that I recently …

The Fear Monger: Phantasm V Exists, Tucker & Dale 2 Soon Will, But Blair Witch 3 Won’t

Saturday 29 March 2014 @ 2:34 pm

Good day, throttlers of all things pulsing. It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood as we head towards that most important of all holidays, April Fool’s Day. Fred Walton’s April Fool’s Day is almost required viewing as you stuff peanut cans with spring-filled snakes and inundate Twitter with fake Marvel casting rumors.

March 29 doesn’t have any specific horror movies whose screenings are correlative, but it’s still a good day to read about the more exciting horror headlines of the week. In bite-sized news, head to the Stanley Film …

T.J. Miller Will Voice A Superhero In Disney And Marvel’s Big Hero 6

Saturday 29 March 2014 @ 1:51 pm

Disney has been keeping a pretty tight lid on its upcoming animation Big Hero 6, their first trip into the Marvel Universe. Yet one of the cast members revealed himself a month ago and barely anyone batted an eyelash.

In an interview, comic actor T.J. Miller told the website BostInno, “I’m in Disney’s Big Hero 6, which will be their big release this Thanksgiving.” No press release, or anything along those lines? Strange move, Disney. As a possible clue to the character he’s playing, Miller shared the news after being asked about voice acting roles, …

Keira Knightley’s Begin Again Sings A Familiar Tune With First Trailer

Saturday 29 March 2014 @ 1:35 pm

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

What could either be a wonderful or horrifying film to double feature with the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, Begin Again stars Keira Knightley as Gretta, a British musician whose American dream was never realized, and Mark Ruffalo is just the ex-record executive who can change her life forever. Picture me saying that in the most life-affirming way possible, because that’s the kind of inflection this pic’s first trailer inspires. This is the seventh film from Once director John Carney, who seems …

Elizabeth Banks Takes A Ride Of Embarrassment In Walk Of Shame Stills

Saturday 29 March 2014 @ 1:19 pm

Did you ever have one of “those” days, where every step seemed to be in the wrong direction? Elizabeth Banks is having 12 of those at once in Walk of Shame, director Steven Brill’s disaster-filled follow-up to 2008’s Drillbit Taylor. Focus World released three new images from the upcoming comedy, though none of them do a particularly good job of conveying anything about the movie itself. Maybe the employee who let these out was having one of those days.

Banks plays Meghan Miles, an L.A. news reporter who will be having the most important interview of her …

Movie Producer Willing To Let People Slap Him In The Face If They Don’t Like Cheap Thrills

Friday 28 March 2014 @ 11:07 pm

We at Cinema Blend love it when life imitates art, from Bat Kid to actual Jurassic parks, and the promotional campaign for E.L. Katz’s darkly comedic thriller Cheap Thrills certainly qualifies. It is about as over-the-top as marketing gets. The film revolves around a series of increasingly sordid bets that David Koechner’s affluent character Colin tasks Vince (Ethan Embry) and Craig (Pat Healy) with, as the prize money for winning each bet steadily increases. And much like that scenario, the cast and crew have been doing some pretty horrible things to themselves as a way …

Magic Mike Sequel Lands A Director, An Official Title

Friday 28 March 2014 @ 10:04 pm

Break out your G-strings, firefighter costumes and body glitter! Magic Mike officially is getting a sequel, though there are going to be some major changes to the dance rotation on the main stage, so read on to see who’ll be shaking it, and who’ll be taking it somewhere else.

Original Magic Mike director Steven Soderbergh is out, though we basically knew that based on the fact that he announced his semi-sort-of retirement a while back. Now Collider reports that Gregory Jacobs will be sliding into Soderbergh’s still-warm director’s chair for the sequel, …

Peter Dinklage May Take Down Video Game Characters With Adam Sandler In Pixels

Friday 28 March 2014 @ 8:34 pm

Call me crazy, but the prospect of yet another comedy co-starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James sounds nearly as enjoyable as wearing boxers made out of piranhas. That said, I’m still looking forward to Chris Columbus’ Pixels, which is close to reaching a level of actual legitimacy now that the massively talented Peter Dinklage is in early talks to star. A Lannister always pays his debts, but let’s see how they do when it comes to playing video games.

This high-concept project will stick James in the highest office of the land as the President …

Terminator: Genesis Adds Dayo Okeniyi In Final Lead Role

Friday 28 March 2014 @ 7:04 pm

Earlier this week, we reported that Attack the Block star John Boyega was in the mix for a crucial part in Terminator: Genesis, the fifth film in that ongoing franchise. Well, he didn’t get it. But we now know who did!

The Hunger Games co-star Dayo Okeniyi has captured the role of Miles Dyson’s son in sequel, according to Variety. Okeniyi played Thresh in the latest Hunger Games film, Catching Fire. He’ll now take his talents to a new franchise that routinely advertises itself as the first chapter in a planned trilogy. Nothing like …
